“Partance” a title that evokes the journey

The title of this exhibition “ Departure » evokes many things, such as travel, displacement, a promise from elsewhere. A theme that photographers really like.
Raphaël Dupouy, cultural attaché of the town of Lavandou explains to us;
“In maritime circles, the departure gun was formerly this cannon shot without a ball that was fired to warn that we were going to set sail. A departure banner then flew at the stern of the ship to announce an upcoming departure. On sea or on land, the departure point is the one from which we begin to count the distances to the destination point. Departure, like a dream in the making.
Some of the images the exposure were taken at theextreme end of the world (a locomotive abandoned in the snow North Pole for Gautier Deblonde) or to United States (the crazy races of “American cars” by Pierryl Peytavi). Others very close to Lavandou (the arsenal of Toulon and his ships docked at Jacqueline Salmon).
Their common point; the desire to transcend, to transfigure the medium and the experience of displacement to say something deeply personal.
« Departure ", it is also the sign of holiday departure and the desire to experience the pleasures of Mediterranean coast.

As in the large prints of Var beaches so special by Italian photographer Massimo Vitali. It is again, the possible encounter between the reality of the moment and a strange inner feeling of chronic wandering.
As with the Frenchman of Slovenian origin Klavdij Sluban. At Béatrice Mermet, it is the questioning of the landscape as a territory experienced by man.
Particularly through his images of the urban surroundings of Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône. As for the poetry of Chris Kenny's floating drawings, it takes us beyond geography, towards reinvented landscapes. »
