The Lavandou gardens are much more than places to relax. They are the jewels of our ecological commitment, havens of peace where biodiversity thrives and local ecosystems are preserved. This page invites you to explore these green spaces with a fresh perspective. But also to understand the initiatives that make them ecologically responsible.

Actions protecting the environment

Many actions aim to protect the environment of Lavandou on a daily basis, such as:

  • the use of biodegradable mulch,
  • the acquisition of clean (electric) vehicles,
  • the use of biodegradable motor oil,
  • differentiated management
  • centralized management of automatic watering.

Urban ecology in Lavandou

Le Lavandou, and its “municipal gardeners” are committed to the path of urban ecology. But also in the reasoned management of the municipality's green spaces. On a daily basis, the design and maintenance of spaces preserves green heritage while respecting biodiversity and its development. This approach is thought out from the design of new projects:

  • Choice of plants that consume less water and are better adapted to the urban environment
  • Gradual removal of grassy areas that consume a lot of water (replaced by perennial or shrub plants)
  • Systematic installation of automatic watering
  • Introduction of new plant species or varieties in different places in the city to promote plant biodiversity.

Biological treatments

All green spaces are now treated organically (100% organic control, 100% organic fertilization). On the material side, the green spaces service uses biodegradable oils and fats. But other actions aimed at protecting the environment have also been taken:

  • Use of biodegradable mulch,
  • Acquisition of clean (electric) vehicles,
  • Use of biodegradable motor oil,
  • Differentiated management and centralized management of automatic watering.
  • The issues for the environment are essential. Climate disruption proves this more and more often. These steps must go well beyond the pleasure of watching a ladybug eat a colony of aphids on a laurel flower!
