The beach lined with pine trees, the brightness, the colors and the sweetness of life attract at the end of the century a small group of friends, innovative artists, painters and men of letters: Henri Edmond CROSS, Théo VAN RYSSELBERGHE, Paul SIGNAC, Maximilien LUCE, Emile VERHAEREN and André GIDE.
