Description

DEPARTURE / ARRIVAL: Chartreuse de la Verne parking area

MARKING: yellow

At the exit of the parking area, where there is an information panel on the Maures integral biological reserve, go on your left towards the Chartreuse de la Verne following the track. You can observe a panoramic view of the Chartreuse which you will reach by a track after approximately 700 m.

After observing the imposing building and its majestic door, whose pillars are made of Serpentine des Maures with the characteristic green color, continue your circuit leaving it on your left until you reach a crow's foot (intersection with the track ridges).

Continue your circuit going down on your left along the Capelude track along which you can observe magnificent chestnut trees with strange shapes.
After a few dozen meters, you pass next to the Font-Sainte fountain.

Continue towards the Verne reservoir via the Capelude track. You cross the Règue du Pas du Loup stream; you will come across the latter below the circuit, where it feeds, during floods, the Verne reservoir. Continue to the Capelude 2 arrow post.

At this level, leave the Capelude track on the right for a path in the undergrowth which takes you to the Verne reservoir via the Argentière valley. This path is bordered by vegetation characteristic of the Maures massif (arbutus trees, heather, cork oaks).
After about 1 km, you observe on your left superb terraces, vestiges of past human activity, before arriving on the Verne track which runs alongside the reservoir of the same name.

Continue your circuit on your left along the Verne reserve (passage of the Règue du Pas du Loup valley).
You pass through a gate and arrive at an intersection with the Capelude track on your left. A few meters after this intersection, take on your left a fairly stony and steep path which allows you to join the Capelude track through pleasant shaded undergrowth (about 2 km).
At the end of the latter, you pass under a eucalyptus grove with its characteristic smell.
You then arrive on the Capelude track and all you have to do is follow it on your right towards Chartreuse to reach your starting area.
