Exposition à la Villa Théo – Intimes intérieurs
Villa Théo is hosting a group exhibition on the theme of still lifes, bouquets and other silent lives; a subject with rich symbolism, originally placed at the bottom of the hierarchy of artistic genres, but which painters have continued to revisit over the centuries and which continues today. These “dead and motionless things”, called “still lives” in other languages (“Still lives” in English, “Stillleben” in German, etc.), in fact have a soul and an evocative power that transcends eras, styles and mediums. These “Interior Intimates”, referring to the finitude of the human race, combine aesthetic research (composition, shapes, material, light, colors), spiritual or moral reflection, and testify to the virtuosity of the artist. From figurative to abstraction. After painting, photography also took up this subject.
This exhibition brings together classic and contemporary works, as well as photographs. With creations by Jean ARÈNE, Louis BONAMICI, Eugène BABOULÈNE, Bernard BUFFET, Emmanuel-Charles BÉNÉZIT, Auguste CHABAUD, Olivier DEBRÉ, Jean DUBRUSK, Marcelo FUENTES, Frédéric JONCOUR, Françoise NUNEZ, Georges-Henri PESCADÈRE, Serge PLAGNOL, Bernard PLOSSU, Valerio POLICI, Isidore ROSENSTOCK, Gaël SERRE, Alexandre TROIN and Suzanne VALADON.
