Description
Free and fun discovery tour in the town center of La Londe les Maures.
La Londe les Maures is a young town, in the heart of a land of history.
The Gaoutabry dolmen, the largest Var megalithic tomb in terms of surface area, attests to human occupation on our lands 4800 years ago.
On a territory in the hands of the Carthusians of La Verne and other religious people for nearly six centuries, vast agricultural estates were formed in the Middle Ages. In this quasi-human desert, a castrum, a fortified town, was established on the heights of Les Bormettes in the mid-13th century at the latest.
During the Revolution, immense religious properties were followed by large and numerous bourgeois estates. The population is still only 130 inhabitants, scattered in a few bastides and hamlets.
It is a rich vein of zinc which will give birth to the village.
